An online tool for actors to help with rehearsals and self-tests... it's for those times when you don't have anyone at hand to read for you or you just want to rehearse. It is completely free and doesn't require you to create an account or install anything; there are no ads. It all runs in your browser and stores its data locally.
Obviously it will always be better to have a reader in person to interact with but sometimes you just don't have that, which is where this tool comes in. It will act as your scene partner, following along, listening to your lines and responding on cue. The voices can be either:
Some things it can do:
Once your script is loaded you can select a voice for your reader(s) and get to work rehearsing or putting down a self-test. Using a connected remote (eg your phone) can be usefull to subtly advance to the next line if your dialogue isn't detected correctly.
Again, when doing a self-test it is preferable to have a human reader (and proper camera and audio equipment) but this may help when you don't have that, or just want to rehearse. I created it for myself (and I've used it successfully to get a callback and book a job) but maybe you will find it useful too. There are many similar apps out there but I didn't like some of their limitations and/or pricing.
It's not perfect and I haven't written many instructions, I'm just tinkering with it in my spare time, but it is currently usable on either a computer or mobile device. On an android device you will need to mute notifictions or it will keep beeping at you (I haven't tested on iPhone so no guarantees). Anyway, it may be useful for you or it may not. Probably best to play around with it as a test to find out how it works (or doesn't) before trying to use it for a pressing deadline!
Enjoy.
